Vorsprung durch TechnikThe period from the start of the 1990s up to the present day has been all about innovative technologies and a complete overhaul of the product and model line-up.
On the body manufacturing front, the use of the Audi Space Frame as standard revolutionised lightweight design, even in the compact category. The new generation of multitronic transmissions offered customers a whole new calibre of automatic transmission combined with the choice of manual gearshifting. The Audi model portfolio attained an unprecedented breadth of choice. Models such as the sporty Audi Cabriolet, the compact Audi A2 and the premium-class Audi A8 tapped into a new clientele.
