Audi Proudly Announces Participation in Business of Design Week 2008 - Asia's Leading Design Event

Nov 18, 2008
Prestigious German automobile manufacturer Audi announced today its active participation in Business of Design Week 2008 (BoDW), an internationally renowned design event held in Hong Kong from December 8-13. Audi is entitled to be the exclusive sponsor of the spotlight event of the week, the Hong Kong Design Center (HKDC) Annual Award Gala Dinner on December 12, to acclaim the success of elite contributions to the design industry. In addition, it is chosen as the event’s official limousine provider, with the mission to provide fleet services for the world's most iconic designers, business leaders and educators.
Fulfilling its mission statement of “Vorsprung durch Technik” – Advancement Through Technology, Audi is committed to the pursuit of pioneering technology, innovative design, quality and professional skills in the production of its vehicles, which blends perfectly with BoDW’s theme – “innovation”, “design” and “brand” - and is the rationale for the collaboration. As the event’s official limousine provider, Audi will provide fleet services to the leaders in the design industry with their flagship models A8L and Q7 as a full support during BoDW.

Audi will also exhibit in HKTDC Inno Design Tech Expo from Dec 10-13 for which its world-class designers from Germany will fly to Hong Kong to host an interactive session sketching car designs and sharing their thinking behind the design at a specially designed booth, demonstrating the brand’s design philosophy. To enhance the public’s experience of the Audi design philosophy, the automobile manufacturer will fly in three new models for exhibition in Hong Kong, including the Audi A1 which will be shown in HKDC Annual Award Gala Dinner, after making their initial appearance at the Tokyo and Paris motor shows. The A1 Concept is a new model in the sub-compact segment featuring an innovative design which is expected to be another classic of the brand.

“Audi Hong Kong is very pleased to be taking an active role in Business of Design Week for the first time,” said Chong Got, managing director of Audi Hong Kong. “We are dedicated to support local designers and talents in the design industry, and we encourage emerging artists to express their creativity, which echoes with our brand essence of being forward thinking. We hope our efforts can make a contribution to the creative and design industry.”

“The goal of BoDW is to advocate the value of design and understand the potential of design in society,” said William To, project director of Hong Kong Design Center (HKDC). “Audi is a perfect example of successful interaction between design and business, through incorporating advanced technology and innovative design in its products. Through Audi’s participation in and support for this event, we hope to see recognition for the increasing importance and value of design in business, and hence promote the development of the local design industry, leading Hong Kong to be the design hub of Asia.”

Hosted by Hong Kong Design Centre, BODW is Asia’s leading design gathering on innovation, design and brand and is one of the most anticipated events on the international calendar, attracting more than 50,000 participants each year. Its goal is to encourage institutions to unleash the power of design by focusing on the vital relationship and complex interplay between design and business. This year BODW has partnered with The Netherlands. The world’s most iconic designers, business leaders and educators will share their successful stories, exchange their ideas and network in this flagship event at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during December 8 and December 13.
