For local car enthusiasts, the long wait for the preview of the new Audi R8 was finally over. On the 9th March, a press conference was held to announce the arrival of the preview car which was in Hong Kong as part of the global launch. An A-List of VIP guests were exclusively invited later, that evening to the specially held gala dinner at the flagship Audi Hong Kong Showroom.

The special premiere started with a cocktail and an exclusive gala dinner which was prepared by the Executive Chef of the Mandarin Oriental and a creative entertainment performed by the internationally renowned group Luma.

Attending the event was an A-list roster of distinguished guests and socialites including Ms. Alice Chiu, Mr. & Mrs. C.C. Tung, Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Chan, Mr. & Mrs. Philip Ma, Mr. Barry Ho, Mr. Victor Wu, Mr. & Mrs. Warren Mok, Mr. & Mrs. Raymond Koo, Mr. & Mrs. Matthew Chan, Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Kinoshita, Ms. Anita Tang, Mr. Louis Tan, Mr. Franklin Yeh, Mr. & Mrs. Alex Ho, Mr. & Mrs. Kelvin Ma.

Mr Chong Got, Managing Director of Premium Motors Ltd., the sole Audi dealer in Hong Kong commented on the exclusive debut saying, "Audi has been a pioneer in motor racing and has made waves in major rally and endurance races around the world for over 70 years. The new R8 incorporates many motorsports elements and innovative racing technologies into everyday driving. It is the embodiment of Audi's brand values of sportiness, progressiveness and innovation. R8 is Audi's new sporty icon and will bring unparallel driving pleasure and a unique road experience to Hong Kong motor sports enthusiasts with discerning taste."

To start off the evening, Mr. Trevor Hill and Mr. Chong Got were joined by a group of contemporary dancers in unveiling the legendary R8. The energy-charged number was specially created by award-winning local choreographer Mr Daniel Yeung and perfectly expressed the speed, power and progressive design of R8. The performance was followed by the debut of the magnificent R8 which dazzled the audience and brought the first highlight of the evening.

For thorough and professional introduction on the R8, Audi flew in R8 expert Ms. Natalia Schwark from Germany. She was surrounded by R8 owners-to-be who enthusiastically raised questions about the car.

Adding to the evening's excitement, Audi brought in internationally renowned performance group LUMA to provide a spellbinding performance. LUMA's performance is an exhilarating and entirely original artform that plays with the genres of lightshows and dynamic body movements in complete darkness to create extraordinary visual effects. The unique piece, which was performed during dinner, amazed the audience with its artistic flow and dynamism.

During its stay in Hong Kong, the R8 – Audi's first mid-engine quattro Super Sports Car, was available for Private viewing "By Appointment Only" until the 25th of March. The quota for the year 2007 have all been sold out but Premium Motors Limited is trying to push for increased allocation after the overwhelming market response.
