The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hong Kong and leading German car manufacturer Audi are collaborating to jointly launch a first-in-Hong Kong exhibition entitled "Germany – Land of Ideas: The Automobile" Exhibition from July 20, - August 3, 2007. The centerpiece of this unique exhibition is a 10-tonne mega sculpture, "The Automobile", which will be unveiled at Chater Garden and bears the unmistakable design features of the world-renowned Audi TT.

"The Automobile" first appeared in the "Germany – Land of Ideas" campaign which was initiated by the Federal Republic of Germany in partnership with the Federation of German Industries during the hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. "Germany – Land of Ideas" uniquely represents the world-renowned quality of Germany's business and industry leaders like Audi and its history of innovation and creative passion.

The unique sculpture made its debut at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and its next port of call is an equally spectacular setting in China. On 18 November Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, unveiled the TT Sculpture on Chang'an Avenue, the Chinese capital's great east-west artery for the "Auto China 2006" motor show.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return of sovereignty to China, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, with the full support of Audi, expressly introduced the Land of Ideas initiative by bringing "The Automobile" sculpture to Hong Kong as part of its world exhibition tour.
