On June 10, 2004, Volkswagen (China) Investment Corporation (VCIC) and its joint ventures, FAW-Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen, were appointed the Official Automobile Partner for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The two brands under the Volkswagen group, Volkswagen and Audi, will jointly provide financial and promotional support, vehicles and other related services to BOCOG, the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC), the Olympic and Paralympics Games in 2008, the Chinese Olympic teams participating in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. And Audi was appointed as the official Beijing 2008 Premium Automobile.
In addition to sponsorship of the Beijing Olympic Games, Audi has been actively involved in other sports events worldwide: actively participating in world top races - the Le Mans 24-Hour Race, international contests in golf, skiing and horsemanship. In terms of football, Audi has sponsored several top football clubs, including FC Bayern Munchen in Germany, Real Madrid in Spain and Manchester United in England.
