Audi A4 DTM: Mattias Ekström on car #1Mattias Ekström has won the DTM for the second time and, as the title defender, starts to the 2008 season in car #1. His team-mate in Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline is Martin Tomczyk. With the seven-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen (Denmark) and with Timo Scheider (Germany) the proven Abt squad has remained the same. High-calibre driversThe other Audi cockpits are occupied by high-calibre drivers as well: Mike Rockenfeller (Germany) and Alexandre Prémat (France) are both tackling their second DTM season. In 2007, when both were rookies, they showed convincing performances with podium results. Rockenfeller’s new team-mate in Audi Sport Team Rosberg is the German Markus Winkelhock, who recommended himself for higher-level tasks in 2007 while standing in for the injured Tom Kristensen and by later showing good performances in the customer team Futurecom-TME. Prémat in Audi Sport Team Phoenix has been joined by Oliver Jarvis, who is regarded as one of Great Britain’s most promising youngsters.
Also from Great Britain hails Katherine Legge, who as the new female Audi factory driver is following in the footsteps of Michèle Mouton, Tamara Vidali and Vanina Ickx. In addition, there is an A4 of the Audi customer team Futurecom-TME, which, in the 2008 season, is driven by Christijan Albers. Audi R10 TDI: Four champions in the Audi R10 TDI cockpitA total of nine Audi factory drivers are integrated during the 2008 season in the AUDI AG sports prototype program: Frank Biela (Germany), Dindo Capello (Italy), Tom Kristensen (Denmark), Lucas Luhr (Germany), Allan McNish (Scotland), Emanuele Pirro (Italy), Alexandre Prémat (France), Mike Rockenfeller (Germany) and Marco Werner (Germany). All nine compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 14/15 June.
Dindo Capello and Allan McNish, who recently won the American Le Mans Series LM P1 Drivers’ Championship for a second time in succession, take on a new challenge: They compete for Audi in Europe in the Le Mans Series. Their team mates at Audi Sport Team Joest are the two youngsters Alexandre Prémat and Mike Rockenfeller. Biela/Pirro team up again.
Audi relies on four former champions in the American Le Mans Series: Frank Biela, Lucas Luhr, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner. With the duo Biela/Pirro one of the most successful driver pairings returns to the series. From 2000 to 2002 and 2005/2006 the two seasoned campaigners celebrated a total of 16 overall victories in the American Le Mans Series. They each won the LM P1 class title twice. | |
