Powerful and efficient driveThe engines in the new Audi A4: progressive, powerful, efficient. All the petrol engines are equipped with FSI®, a particularly economical method of direct injection. The TDI® engines use modern common rain injection technology, are fitted with diesel particulate filters and, of course, comply with EU4 emission standards. The petrol enginesThe petrol engines in the A4 are equipped with FSI® or TFSI®, technologies that have been tried and tested in motorsport. In FSI® engines, fuel is injected into the combustion chamber in precisely metered quantities. This provides for efficient combustion and improved petrol utilisation. TFSI® combines FSI® with a turbocharger to deliver even more power. Petrol models are available as both four- and six-cylinder versions. The range at model launch extends from 118 kW (160 bhp) to 195 kW (265 bhp).
A special valve timing system, the Audi valvelift system, reduces internal friction in the 3.2 FSI engine, thus reducing fuel consumption – but not power! As a result, the most powerful model, the A4 3.2 FSI, with its torque rating of 330 Nm, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds.
