Powerful and efficient drive

There is a wide selection of petrol and diesel engines available for the Audi A6, which combine efficiency with high performance in very different ways.

Sporty efficiency – the TDI engines

The Audi A6 TDI engines use a state-of-the-art common rail system. Piezo injectors force the diesel fuel into the combustion chamber at pressures of up to 1,800 bar. Two intercoolers arranged in parallel provide power that is delivered spontaneously and energetically. This means active power reserves and superb flexibility with low fuel consumption.

Fuel consumption and emissions data:
Audi A6 2.7 TDI tiptronic quattro: combined fuel consumption 7.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 189 g/km
Audi A6 3.0 TDI tiptronic quattro: combined fuel consumption 7.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 189 g/km

Dynamic and agile – the petrol engines

The highly efficient FSI® combustion process has already been applied in motor-racing at Audi. This performance-oriented petrol direct injection system not only delivers dynamic responsiveness and agility at all engine speeds, but is also more fuel-efficient as a result of the regulated fuel injection. The proof of this is to be found in the 3.0 TFSI® engine in the Audi A6. The 213 kW (290 bhp) V6 engine accelerates the A6 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, and with perfectly reasonable fuel consumption figures. The charger module enables the engine to develop all of its power even at low engine speeds, which you can utilise to best effect thanks to quattro® and the sporty tiptronic transmission.

The 4.2-litre V8, rated at 257 kW (350 bhp) and 440 Nm of torque, has even more dynamism. This powerful lightweight engine with FSI® petrol direct injection, maintenance-free chain drive and variable intake manifold takes the A6 saloon – with quattro® transmission – to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, and carries on until it reaches the limiter at 250 km/h.

Fuel consumption and emissions data:
Audi A6 3.0 TFSI quattro: combined fuel consumption 9.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 225 g/km
Audi A6 4.2 FSI tiptronic quattro: combined fuel consumption 10.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 244 g/km
