Because of its optimum reachability and clear layout, the MMI terminal is a control unit with an exemplary ergonomic design. Like the display for the driver information system in the instrument cluster, the retractable MMI display is easy to read and positioned in the driver's direct line of vision. The location of the display at eye level and of the control section close to the driver's hand ensures that the road is always in the driver's immediate field of vision.

All infotainment functions and a large number of vehicle settings can be accessed from the MMI terminal in the centre console and the seven-inch graphics-compatible MMI display. The similar layout of screen content and control elements facilitates intuitive operation – all functions can be handled simply using the same logic. The integrated voice control system provides additional convenience.

The driver information system monitor displays the latest vehicle data and - depending on the equipment - status messages from the phone and navigation system while driving. Basic infotainment functions, such as selecting radio station or CD track, can also be called up. This means that the most important data is always in the driver's direct field of vision. The instrument cluster display reveals the same formal idiom as the MMI display and can also be accessed via the menu roller controls on the multifunction steering wheel.

Thanks to the consistency of the operating principle for both units, the driver does not have to switch to a different mode of thinking when changing from one unit to the other. He can continue to apply the same consistent operating logic. The same is valid for the air conditioning system. In view of the high importance of temperature adjustment for the driver, a separate control element was deliberately provided for climate control, but with the same user-friendly operating logic of the MMI.
