Worldwide customer racing

Audi has been successful in motorsport for decades. Be it the World Rally Championship, endurance racing or the top touring car series DTM, the Audi factory teams were or are victorious everywhere. A success story that the Audi customers continue around the world without pause. Although the chapter customer racing only started at Audi in 2009 the success record is impressive. By the end of 2011 the Audi R8 LMS had made 986 starts in 377 races and, in the process, recorded 118 wins and 312 podium finishes in its classes.
Christian Abt (ADAC GT Masters), Jean-François Hemroulle/Tim Verbergt (GT Belgium) and also Christopher Mies/Christopher Haase (FIA GT3 European Championship) won in the Audi R8 LMS sportscar’s debut year and even clinched overall honors in their respective championships. In 2011 the Audi drivers triumphed in five national GT championships as well as the Blancpain Endurance Series.
The Audi R8 LMS also started 2012 triumphantly. The Audi customer team Phoenix repeated its victory of the previous year in the 12-hour race at Bathurst (Australia), the fifth continent’s most important GT endurance race, with the drivers Christer Jöns (D)/Christopher Mies (D) and Darryl O’Young (HK).
