Audi RS 5 DTM

The Audi RS 5 DTM – New name, optimized details

The Audi RS 5 DTM appears lower and wider than the A4 DTM with which Audi won five DTM titles between 2004 and 2011. A chassis in hybrid design hides beneath the bodywork that is manufactured entirely from carbon.

The RS 5 DTM is powered by a near 340 kW (460 hp) Audi V8 engine. The six-speed gearbox is activated pneumatically via steering wheel mounted shift paddles. Compared to a classic manual shift, the more precise pneumatic gearshift process allows the service life to increase significantly to as much as 24,000 kilometers.

Aerodynamic possibilities are also restricted. Airflow through the bodywork as seen on the A4 DTM and complex additional winglets at the rear are prohibited. Visual similarity to the production line model was greater as a result and, at the same time, the new DTM cars react less sensitively to contact and create a better slipstream.
