The engines in the Audi A4 Avant: progressive, powerful, efficient. All the petrol engines are equipped with FSI®, a particularly economical method of direct fuel injection.

The petrol engines in the A4 Avant are equipped with tried-and-trusted FSIFSIGetting more out of every drop of petrol.FSI ® technology from the world of motorsport. FSI® means the fuel is metered with precision and injected directly into the combustion chamber. This ensures efficient combustion and better utilisation of the petrol. TFSITFSIAudi was the first manufacturer in the world to combine petrol direct injection with turbocharging in large-scale car productionTFSI ® combines FSI® with a turbocharger to deliver even more power. The petrol model line-up ranges from the 1.8 TFSI with an output of 88 kW (120 bhp) to the 3.2 FSI with 195 kW (265 bhp).
The 2.0 TFSI engine developing 155 kW (211 bhp) has impressive pulling power: its outstanding peak torque of 350 Nm is available at an engine speed of just 1,500 rpm. This engine is also equipped with the Audi valvelift system. This ultra-variable valve timing system not only reduces fuel consumption, but also makes driving even more fun.
Fuel consumption and emissions data:
Fuel consumption, combined: 6.6-9.4 l/100 km
CO2 emissions, combined: 154-218 g/km
There is a particularly economical version of the Audi A4 Avant in the shape of the A4 Avant 2.0 TFSI flexible fuel, which is also suitable for running on bioethanol. This fuel, designated E85, lowers operating costs and features a good CO2 balance. The 2.0 TFSI flexible fuel engine is based on the 2.0 TFSI with Audi valvelift and start-stop systemStart-stop systemThe start-stop system can help you to save energy and thus reduce CO2 emissions.Start-stop system . Like that engine, it develops 320 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 4,200 rpm and achieves a power output of 132 kW (180 bhp). The engine can run on fuel with any concentration up to 85 percent ethanol in the petrol, with no noticeable differences in drivability or performance. Running on E85, the ultramodern four-cylinder engine in the A4 Avant achieves fuel consumption of 9.2 l/100 km (quattro®quattro®Vorsprung durch Technik: quattro® technology stands for permanent power to all four wheels distributed between the front and rear axles.quattro® : 10.6 l/100 km), and 6.6 l/100 km (quattro®: 7.5 l/100 km) on premium-grade petrol. Because taxes on ethanol are significantly lower than on fossil fuels, however, its use reduces operating costs.
Fuel consumption and emissions data (running on premium-grade petrol):
