The new Audi RS 6 Avant is poised, nimble and athletic. The standard-fit RS adaptive air suspension is the key to outstanding directional stability, excellent agility and a precise steering response. Dynamic handling through and through – just like on the racetrack.
Thanks to its 5-link front suspension layout in combination with self-tracking trapezoidal-link rear suspension, the Audi RS 6 Avant reliably holds its line and takes bends with confident ease. Many vehicle components are made of aluminium to reduce weight and keep the unsprung masses low.
The combination of air suspension and a continuously adaptive damping system means various ride heights and also ride height adjustment are possible. The handling characteristics thus remain consistently sporty, however high the load being carried.
The RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) is available as an option. The pitching and rolling movements about the transverse and longitudinal axes are reduced by steel springs and variable-rate shock absorbers. The dampers are interconnected diagonally by oil lines and one central valve each. Whenever the dampers are compressed to different degrees – e.g. when cornering at speed – the valves act on the oil flow at the compressed edge. This produces more forceful support, reduced lateral inclination and increased driving enjoyment.
The electromechanical power steering with RS-specific characteristic curve provides additional sportiness and dynamism. Its low position means the steering forces are distributed directly to the wheels, producing a spontaneous steering response.
