RS Q3 performance

The torque curve of the RS Q3 performance

With an extra 20 kW (27 PS) of power, the 270 kW (367 PS) 2.5 TFSI engine pushes the RS Q3 performance to a standard top speed of 270 km/h, generating 465 Nm of torque at 1,625 to 5,550 rpm and propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Combined fuel consumption on the NEDC cycle is 8.6 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (203 g CO2 per km). A recovery system and a start-stop system contribute to this value. The emissions classification is Euro 6.

The 2.5 TFSI: “Engine of the Year” six times in a row

The 2.5 TFSI has an 82.5 mm stroke and a 92.8 mm bore, resulting in a displacement of 2,480 cm3. With great pulling power, high revving and the characteristic sound of the five-cylinder firing order 1 - 2 - 4 - 5 - 3, it’s sure to give you goosebumps. At higher loads and engine speeds, a valve opens in the RS exhaust system and makes the characteristic sound even louder. This five-cylinder engine is a modern classic: an international jury of journalists has chosen the unit six times in a row since 2010 as the “International Engine of the Year” in its class.

At 49 centimetres long, the engine is very short and weighs about 180 kilograms. Its crankcase is made of vermicular graphite cast iron, a high-strength yet lightweight material. Targeted reinforcements increase the resilience of the block. The RS Q3 performance-specific refinements of the 2.5 TFSI include technical details such as a newly developed main radiator and an optimised fuel pump.

A small team of specially trained employees assembles the 2.5 TFSI by hand at the Audi site in Györ, Hungary.
